2022 was a peculiar year for young women in Nigeria; the year witnessed a rise of young women in tech and the gig economy; however, this did not directly translate to increased employment rates for the country. Nigeria’s priority shifted from key sectors like Education to Security and Health as the country prepares for the 2023 general elections. Nigeria’s public tertiary institutions were shut for an unbelievable eight months (Feb-October). Incessant strike actions are just one of the many challenges that pose a setback not just for Nigeria but for the quality of Education on the continent. Notwithstanding, in line with its mission and taking lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, Girl Pro piloted its Virtual Mentorship Programme.
